The streets and lanes are decorated with loving care, and the smell of mulled wine and Advent cookies is in the air. Also the turn of the year is celebrated particularly exuberantly: already in the afternoon of the last day of the year the New Year’s Eve Carnival begins with high spirits, fun and a spectacular live programme.
Sport enthusiasts can enjoy extraordinary luxury in winter: skiing and snowboarding right in town, at the “Schleppe Alm”, five minutes from the city centre; and once Lake Wörthersee freezes over, the largest natural ice-skating area in Europe is available for your enjoyment.
